Your Building. Their First Impression.
With the clocks now back, darker evenings, wetter entrances and autumn leaves bring a few extra challenges for your building.
As the seasons change, so do the demands on your building. This month, we’re sharing a few practical ways to keep your site looking its best, alongside the people, achievements and activities making October a busy month at Merco.
This Month at Merco
Extra Mile Award: October
Congratulations to Ayodele, our October Extra Mile Award winner!
Thank you for your high standards, hard work and for always going above and beyond.

Welcoming New Colleagues
A warm welcome to our three new colleagues! Each has completed our onboarding and vetting process, ready to help care for your buildings. We’re pleased to have you on board.
We’re helping our new colleagues settle in so they can deliver the reliable service our clients expect.
Celebrating Our Team
Thirteen members of the Merco team are celebrating birthdays in October, with each receiving a birthday gift from us.
To everyone celebrating, we hope you have a lovely birthday!

A little Halloween Spirit
The office has had a Halloween makeover, and the team has been putting their pumpkin carving skills to the test.
It’s been lovely to have some fun together during a busy month. Keep an eye on our social channels for a look at the results!
A Day Out with Chespack
Alice Ferguson and Kelly Evans attended Chespack Hygiene’s ID26 Forum at Chester Zoo, bringing back ideas on how AI agents could support Merco.
Thank you to Chespack for a brilliant day, with time to see the animals too!

Site Of the Month: American Express
This month, we’re celebrating our team at American Express. Their hard work, care and attention to detail help keep the site clean and welcoming every day.
Thank you to everyone at the site for representing Merco so well.
Getting Home Safely After Dark
As evenings get darker, please keep paths, exits and car parks well lit and clear to help everyone leave your building safely.
A little extra care helps keep everyone safe after dark.

Insight: Is Your Building Ready For Autumn?
Wet shoes, fallen leaves and muddy footprints can quickly take their toll on entrances and communal areas.
A few adjustments to your cleaning routine can help:
-
Check entrance matting regularly. Mats need cleaning and checking throughout the day, particularly during wet weather.
-
Give busy areas extra attention. Entrances, corridors and shared spaces may need more frequent checks.
-
Deal with wet floors promptly. Keep suitable signage accessible while cleaning is carried out and floors dry.
-
Keep outside routes clear. Leaves and debris can collect around doorways and on paths.
If your cleaning specification has stayed the same since summer, now is a good time to review it.
Get in touch with your Merco contact, and we’ll help you identify any seasonal adjustments your site needs.

Looking After What Matters
“The future of the natural world, on which we all depend, is in our hands.” - Sir David Attenborough
After our visit to Chester Zoo this month, these words felt especially fitting.
We spend our days caring for buildings, but that care extends beyond the front door. Using the right amount of cleaning product, avoiding wasted water and recycling correctly are simple ways we can all play our part.
Looking after your building. Caring for the world around it.
